Collectively we’ve performed lots of musical styles — rock, blues, reggae, poly-rhythmic jazz, folk – but none of us ever elected to “mainstream.” We’ve each played with other bands for years at venues from local clubs to opening for major acts on the big stage, but now we’ve settled on following the paths of our artistic heroes.

We worship at the alters of Harry Partch, Leonard Cohen, John Coltrane, Elvis, Blue Oyster Cult, The Pretenders, and Miles Davis. One audience member said the band made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Then he said it sounded like Johnny Cash singing songs co-written by Kris Kristofferson and Frank Zappa. Our original songs and our arrangements take the audience so deep into life’s darkness that they can’t help but see the light. Our music could be described as non-traditional bluegrass, but the lyrics always carry way too much information. Sometimes it takes an audience six or seven songs to realize we’re kidding…then it takes a few more to realize we’re not.

At one time or another members of the band have shared the stage with Suzy Bogguss and Garth Brooks (contemporary country), Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings (real country), Johnny Winter (blues rock), Edgar Winter (hard rock), Albert King and James Cotton (Chicago blues), Bo Diddley (rock ‘n roll), Ray Charles (immortal), Buddy Miles (funk), Jefferson Starship and Quicksilver Messenger Service (psychedelic rock), Emmett Chapman (jazz, inventor of the Chapman Stick), Utah Phillips (folk), The Wailers, Messenjah, and Judy Mowatt (reggae), George Benson and Seawind (jazz), Paul Revere and the Raiders, Eric Burdon, The Spencer Davis Group, Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, The Turtles, and It’s A Beautiful Day (pop rock), Malo and Jose Feliciano (Latin rock), and a host of others. We have all worked on recording projects in support of a wide variety of local and regional bands; our expertise is well regarded and sought after by our peers. We have all toured regionally in Central California and the Central Coast and some of us have worked nationally and internationally.

But now we’re finally reaching the point where our individual styles are falling into sync and pushing us to levels we’ve never been able to reach individually. All our material is straight from the heart. It’s all personal and it’s all right here in the room with us and the audience, and we have never phoned in a performance. We’re committed to bringing the best possible performance to you and your audience.
