SUMMARY:Lefty Gunplay ~ Bonafide grammy winning\, hardcore hip hop
DESCRIPTION:Table reservations are limited\, avaialble for $100. Email monte@thesirenmorrobay.com \nLos Angeles rapper Lefty Gunplay’s street narratives are brash and violent\, occasionally pausing for introspective moments. First appearing with the 2023 EP Back Like I Never Left\, he released four albums in 2024\, including Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Gangbanger\, while earning mainstream recognition through a feature on Kendrick Lamar‘s song “TV Off.” Can’t Get Right\, a collaboration with JasonMartin\, appeared in 2025\, followed by the solo effort Ghetto Heisman. \nFranklin Holladay was born and raised in Baldwin Park\, Los Angeles County. Though he had performed songs by Kanye West and 50 Cent in a talent show as a student\, he didn’t start rapping professionally as Lefty Gunplay until 2023\, after he was released from serving nine years in a penitentiary. The 2023 EP Back Like I Never Left\, mainly produced by Benjirow\, detailed his prison and street experiences. He signed with independent label OTR Records by the end of the year\, and he issued Rookie of the Year\, his debut album\, in February 2024. The full-lengths Famous Gangbanger\, PreSeason\, and Most Valuable Gangbanger (featuring cameos by Snoop Dogg and Too $hort) all appeared during the year in addition to a raft of singles. \nLefty earned major attention when he was featured on Kendrick Lamar‘s “TV Off\,” from GNX\, which was released in late November. The song charted worldwide\, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and leading to a major increase in streaming numbers for Lefty’s entire catalog. The rapper stated that he had recorded further songs with Lamar that would be featured on a deluxe edition of the album\, and he spoke out against Drake for pursuing legal action over Lamar‘s diss track “Not Like Us.” Lefty began 2025 with the single “Can’t Get Right” featuring JasonMartin. An entire album of the same name appeared\, and another full-length\, Ghetto Heisman\, soon followed.
