The group was founded by drummer Lou Hill, who was raised on a sonic diet of hip hop and rock, and who put together his first band when he was twelve, even before he played in his high school marching band. Water Seed also includes J. Sharp on keys, Cinese on flute, Marius Tilton on bass, and Ryan Johnson on lead vocals. The group has performed at prestigious venues far and wide, including the Kennedy Center for the Arts, and is a favorite at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
