For the last 26 years, Chuck Robertson has been the lead singer of the ska-punk-dixie-reggae band the Mad Caddies. Growing up in a small, rural community on the central coast of California, deep in the heart of Cowboy Wine country, there wasn’t a lot going on around. Following in the footsteps of their idols, Robertson and his bandmates gathered in garages, barns, and anywhere else they could find to try their hand at making music together.
When the pandemic started, Robertson got busy writing and recording new music, but recognized it had a different feel than what the Mad Caddies are known for, so he started a new project called Chuck Robertson and Friends. Their debut album, All Out Of Dreams, will be available July 9 through Tecolote.
The Happys are a bay area band composed of four twenty-something-year olds-playing dysfunctional Surf tinged Grunge.
They’ve acquired a reputation with their rowdy live performances. Since their 2016 debut album Trippin, The Happys have embodied a vulnerability, setting their honest painful feelings of addiction to a wildly joyful surf-grunge sound. Formed in the Bay Area, songwriter Nick Petty grew up writing music his entire life. Starting his career after overcoming addiction, depression and incarceration, powerful even strange songs started to form. The outfit is completed by Guitarist, Ale (Alex) Sanchez, Bassist, Brett Brazil and Drummer Elijah Smetzer. The Happys have shared the stage with artists such as Mad Caddies, Sublime with Rome, Agent Orange, Del the Funky Homosapien, Band of Gringos, and LAW.
